Report: Giants Also Request Permission To Interview Bears' Adam Gase

(CBS) A fourth team is now showing interest in Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

A day after Tom Coughlin resigned, the Giants have requested permission from the Bears to interview Gase for their head coaching vacancy, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

Gase was previously scheduled to meet with the Eagles for an interview Tuesday, per reports. He also has an interview lined up with the Browns on Wednesday and Dolphins on Thursday, according to reports.

The Giants are coming off a 6-10 season. The Eagles just finished a 7-9 season, while the Browns went 3-13 and the Dolphins went 6-10. Cleveland holds the No. 2 pick in April's draft.

"We wish him nothing but the best," Bears coach John Fox said Monday. "He's done a great, great job here.

"We have plans in place. This is ... old hat for us, as far as guys moving on and getting those opportunities."

Under the direction of Gase, the Bears were 21st in total offense and 23rd in scoring offense this season. However, several key skill players were hurt for long stretches, and Gase was widely lauded for helping quarterback Jay Cutler become more efficient, less turnover-prone and make the most of a spare-parts offense.

Gase had a great deal of success directing the Broncos' offense during a stint in Denver under Fox as well.
