Minooka Man Looking To Set Record For Fastest Cross Country Run

(CBS) --A 29-year-old native of Minooka will most likely spend Valentine's Day with his wife carb-loading before setting off to try to break a Guinness world record.

"I'm going to attempt to break the Guinness world record for the fastest crossing of the USA on foot," Adam Kimble said.

Kimble has done marathons and ultra-marathons and he will start this ultra-ultra-marathon in Huntington Beach, California, on Monday, February 15.

"I kind of wanted to start at the beginning of the week, and we figured Monday, it's like starting off a work (week)," Kimble said. "It's just a little different kind of work that we're doing."

To break the record, Kimble has to run 68 to 69 miles a day for a total of just over 3,000 miles to get to Times Square in 45 days.

Why is he doing it? To inspire others to shoot for goals that are hard to reach.

"Hopefully at the end of it I'll be able to say I made it happen," he said.
