Shrine Of Christ The King Parishioners Evaluating Their Options
(CBS) -- Catholics who saw their Woodlawn church gutted by fire in October suffered another setback last week, as the Archdiocese of Chicago moves forward with plans to demolish the building.
Churchgoers celebrated on Sunday saying they're still grateful for the space they have, a temporary place to hold mass as the archdiocese decides what to do with the parish.

Demolition permits could be issued as soon as this week. The archdiocese has offered the shrine other churches to use or the chance to present proposals for rebuilding in the same location. Some neighbors say they want the shrine to stay in Woodlawn.
Cannon Matthew Talarico says they're looking at all options - including raising money to rebuild in the same location or move to a different church.
Mike Medina, who lives two blocks away from the Shrine of Christ the King, says he doesn't want the archdiocese to act in haste about what's left of the burnt building.
"All were asking for his time," Medina said. "Time to have some people who have said they have concrete ideas about what we can do with the structure as it is and what we can do with it going forward to pull that all together and approach the archdiocese."
