Brief Thaw For Chicago, Then Back To Arctic Temps By Sunday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- After enduring more than three days of frigid temperatures, Chicago residents will have a couple days to thaw out before single digit temperatures rear their ugly heads again.
Starting late Sunday afternoon, temperatures dipped into single digits four days in a row in Chicago, after not getting that cold at any point before this winter.
However, Thursday and Friday will bring much milder conditions to the area.
The temperature in Chicago already was a relatively balmy 30 degrees by 7 a.m. on Thursday, headed to a high of near 40 degrees.
The mercury will linger near 40 all the way through Friday afternoon, when it will begin dropping into the low 30s.
Friday morning also will bring a chance for some light rain, which could transition to some minor flurry activity by Saturday morning.
Temperatures will fall throughout the weekend, starting in the upper 20s early Saturday, and ending near zero Sunday night. Chicago could even see temperatures below zero early Monday before they start climbing again, but Monday's temperatures likely won't get any better than 10 or 11 degrees.
