One Dead, Five Others Hurt In Overnight Shootings

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was killed and at least five others were wounded in shootings Thursday across Chicago, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot to death Thursday evening in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.

The 19-year-old was shot in the head about 6:20 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Harding, police said. He was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened Thursday night during an armed robbery in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side.

A 26-year-old man was sitting in a parked red SUV just after 10 p.m. in the 6100 block of North Wolcott when three males approached, police said. One of them got into the back seat of the SUV, showed a gun and announced a robbery.

He then shot the man in his right shoulder before running away with his cell phone and wallet, police said. The man was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized.

A few hours earlier, a man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 29-year-old was walking in the 200 block of West 112th Street about 6:15 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. The shooter than ran away and the man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

A 17-year-old boy was shot less than an hour earlier in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The teenager suffered gunshot wounds to the back and abdomen about 5:25 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Harrison, police said.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Forty minutes earlier, a man was shot and critically wounded in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The 25-year-old was walking in the 9100 block of South Wentworth about 4:40 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

In Thursday's first shooting, A man was wounded in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 31-year-old man was outside in the 4800 block of South Laflin at 12:55 a.m. when an SUV pulled up and someone inside fired at him, police said. He was shot in the groin and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
