Jerry Krause: Former Bulls Assistant Johnny Bach A Bright, Cerebral Guy

(CBS) -- Former Bulls general manager Jerry Krause joined the Boers and Bernstein Show on Monday to talk about former Bulls assistant coach Johnny Bach, who died at age 91.

Bach helped the Bulls win three NBA titles from 1991 to 1993, when Krause was general manager. Krause said Bach was a bright and cerebral guy.

"John had very good, innovative ideas and he was a guy he was not afraid to take chances and we had a very athletic team," Krause said. "We didn't have anyone on that team that wasn't a good athlete, and John capitalized on that."

Krause also credits Bach with playing a role in the Bulls drafting Horace Grant.

"John did a lot of extra tape work that I didn't even know he was doing and showed me some things on tape that I had not seen and said, 'Jerry, I think we can make this guy a special player,'" Krause said.
