Mother Of Missing Park Forest Woman Doesn't Believe She Ran Away

(CBS) -- It has been two-and-a-half weeks since a 31-year-old Park Forest woman vanished - and her mother says she's afraid her daughter's stormy marriage may be at the root of her disappearance.

"This just is not like her because her kids meant everything to her," said Maria Gonzalez. "By now we would've heard something from her."

Gonzalez says she does not believe her daughter Brenda Jackson just ran away.

Police in Park Forest say Jackson's purse was still in the home, but that it was missing one piece of identification.

Her cell phone has been off since she disappeared on January 3.

Gonzalez says her daughter and her husband have had some issues in their two-and-a-half year marriage.

"And they were trying to work the marriage out," she said. "That's what she had told me."

Police say the husband is cooperating with investigators.

Gonzalez says her daughter's husband told her to not talk to the police until she went to him first.

WBBM has tried to reach Brenda Jackson's husband.
