Police: 8 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings Across Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people were wounded in shootings Tuesday on the city's South and West sides.
Most recently, a man was injured in an East Garfield Park neighborhood drive-by shooting Tuesday night on the West Side.
The 26-year-old was walking in the 2800 block of West Jackson Boulevard about 9:15 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police. He was shot in the left side of his body and took himself to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
About 15 minutes earlier, a 34-year-old man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. He suffered gunshot wounds to the groin and arm at 8:59 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Halsted Street, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
About 5:45 p.m., a 50-year-old man was shot in the hip area in the 4800 block of West North Avenue in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
Less than an hour earlier, a man was shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. The 32-year-old man was standing on the street in the 3700 block of West Roosevelt at 5:08 p.m. when a male dressed in black approached him and fired shots, police said. The shooter then left the area northbound. The man was shot in the arm and hip and transported himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.
About 3:40 p.m., three teenage boys were shot while they were in a minivan in the 4900 block of South King Drive in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side. Two of the boys, 16 and 17, were each shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The third boy, also 16, was shot in the leg and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Their conditions had each stabilized. Authorities initially said four teens had been shot, but later said another boy in the van, 15, suffered a laceration to his shoulder. He was listed in good condition at Comer Children's Hospital.
Tuesday's first shooting happened in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side. A 23-year-old man walked into Mercy Hospital about 11 a.m. with gunshot wounds to the hand and right arm, police said. He told investigators he was shot at 37th and Michigan. His condition was stabilized at the hospital.
