3 Killed, 6 Wounded In Thursday Shootings Across City

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three men were killed and at least six other people were wounded in shootings Thursday across Chicago.

The most recent homicide happened Thursday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

A 19-year-old man was found lying face down next to an SUV in an alley in the 4700 block of South Wood about 10:20 p.m. He was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Less than 10 minutes earlier, a man was shot to death in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

At 10:12 p.m., a 20-year-old man was found unresponsive in the front seat of a light blue sedan parked in the 1700 block of North Menard. He was shot in the left shoulder and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Three hours earlier, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Two men, ages 21 and 24, were in the 4600 block of West Huron at 7:15 p.m. when the younger man was shot in both legs and the older suffered multiple wounds, police said.

They were driven separately to Stroger Hospital, where the 24-year-old later died. The 21-year-old's condition stabilized, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed all three fatalities, but did not immediately release additional details.

The latest nonfatal attack happened about 7:40 p.m. in West Englewood on the South Side.

A 33-year-old man was standing near a car parked in the 5900 block of South Paulina when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. He was shot in the buttocks and taken to Stroger in good condition.

Late Thursday afternoon, a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in Englewood's 6100 block of South Carpenter. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition after the 4:15 p.m. shooting, police said.

Minutes earlier, a bullet grazed a 17-year-old boy's ankle on the Near West Side. He declined medical attention at the scene of the 4 p.m. shooting in the 900 block of South Western, police said.

Two other 17-year-old boys were wounded in a Little Village shooting about 11:50 a.m. on the Southwest Side. They were in the 4100 block of West 25th Street when one was shot in the neck and the other in the back. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where the boy with the back wound was listed in good condition and the other's condition had stabilized.

Police did not have details on the circumstances of those shootings Thursday night.
