Gary Woman Unclaimed At Lake County Coroner's Office

(CBS) --The Lake County Coroner's Office is trying to find relatives of a Gary woman who are willing and financially able to give her a proper burial.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports.

She was in her early 60s when she died this week. Her name was Anita Zurawski.

She lived in Gary and was an artist.

She set up the Artist's Refuge Network, which she described on the group's website as "a Christian-based organization for Christians in the arts."

On its website was this note: "Artists are often out there flying solo, but humans are made for relationship to God and to each other."

Scott Sefton, the chief deputy coroner of Lake County, Ind., is trying to find relatives to give Zurawski a burial.

"We are now trying to find relatives of Anita that can help us give her her final wishes and a good resting place," he says.

He says some of Zurawski's friends have called the coroner's office, offering to help in some way.

But Zurawski could end up being buried in an unmarked grave, Sefton says.

Anyone with information about Ms. Zurawski is asked to call the Lake County Coroner's Office at (219) 755-3265.
