Bears Name Richard Hightower Assistant Special Teams Coach

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) The Bears have named Richard Hightower their new assistant special teams coach.

Hightower is a nine-year NFL coach who spent 2015 in the same position with the 49ers. Last season, San Francisco allowed just 6.4 yards per punt return with a rookie punter.

The Bears saw struggles in their special teams last season, with coordinator Jeff Rodgers coming under some fire. The unit allowed three return touchdowns in 2015.

With Monday's loss of receivers coach Mike Groh to the Rams, the Bears have one more position coach to add to their staff. The team hired Dave Ragone as its quarterbacks coach Friday, replacing a void following the promotion of Dowell Loggains to offensive coordinator.
