Chase Bank ATMs Will Dispense Cash Without Using A Card

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chase is preparing to launch new ATMs that won't require a card to get cash and will dispense money in a variety of denominations.

Customers will be able to use the Chase app on their mobile device to get money and chose either $1, $5, $10 or $20 bills. Some ATMs have had this feature for a few years, but many still dispense only $20 or $10 bills.

Users will be able to tap their phone on the ATM, request an access code and then enter their PIN.

"We're doing this because the way our customers bank is changing – using their phones, online and ATMs more than going to tellers for routine transactions," said Chase spokeswoman Christine Holevas, adding that the bank has about 40 million digital users.

The feature is expected to be available in Chicago beginning in the second half of 2016.

It is the lasts innovation to make mobile banking more accessible, including making check deposits from your phone.
