After Going Unclaimed For Weeks, Family And Friends Holding Service For Gary Woman

(CBS) -- There's an update to a story we first told you about two weeks ago about the death of a Gary woman who had tried to help others in life and then was suddenly alone after she died, reports WBBM's Steve Miller.

She was 64 years old when she died in her home on January 19. Anita Zurawski was an artist and she founded a group called the Artist's Refuge Network.

She wrote on its website: "Networking connects us to each other creating a supportive ring of fellowship and practical support."

But when she died, no one came forward to claim her body.

Scott Sefton, the chief deputy coroner of Lake County, put out a call for family and friends.

"We've been able to talk to the brother, who is working with friends and we are pleased to report that a local funeral home is able to help her in her final arrangements and a local cemetery... she'll be buried with her parents out there," he said.

Sefton says visitation and services for Anita Zurawski are Saturday afternoon in Cedar Lake.
