Businesses Robbed At Gunpoint In South Deering, South Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Chicago Police are warning businesses of armed robberies in the South Chicago and South Deering neighborhoods on the South Side.

At least three businesses have been robbed at gunpoint in the neighborhoods since Feb. 3, according to a community alert from police.

The robberies happened at:

• 1:52 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the 2000 block of East 95th Street;
• 2:04 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the 9000 block of South Commercial Avenue;
• and at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the 9500 block of South Jeffrey Avenue.

In each robbery, one male entered the store, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register, police said. He then left on foot.

He is a described as a 16- to 30-year-old black male, standing 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-2 and weighing 140-190 pounds, police said. In each robbery, the male wore gloves, a hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap.
