Weirdest Dating Profiles Snag The Most Interest, Second City Writer Discovers

(CBS) -- Online dating is heading offline and onto the stage.

It's all part of Second City's hit show "#DateMe: An OKCupid Experiment." As CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports, it's proving truth is stranger than fiction.

Robyn Lynne Norris agreed to critique a friend's dating profile, but to even log on she needed one of her own.

"I created this crazy cat lady named 'Tracy Loves Cats,' and she only talked about her kitties," Norris says. 'Three days later (I) logged back on, and I had hundreds of messages from men very into this lady talking in like all meows … I was like, 'What is this?'"

She eventually created 38 quirky profiles and found the odder or more specific they were, the more responses they got. Characters included "Marry Me Now STAT," or "Pioneer Woman," who never broke character at her historical re-enactment museum.

"You'd be shocked how many men were into it and they wanted to play. They'd be, 'I will ride in my wagon to your barn,'" Norris says.
