Bulls' Derrick Rose Out Against Wizards With Right Hamstring Injury

By Cody Westerlund--

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was a late scratch ahead of Wednesday evening's contest against the Wizards because of right hamstring tendonitis, an injury that's bothered him before and flared up again in the past two days.

Rose made the decision to sit out himself, he said, and did so mainly for precautionary measures.

"Just don't want to take any risks," he said.

"I love the way I'm playing. I feel like I'm playing to win. I feel like I'm in a good mood, great place mentally. Just trying not to risk all of it by going out there by just going out there and playing crazy."

Rose felt his hamstring flare up during and after Tuesday's practice, then it got worse during the day Wednesday, he said.

"When you look at my situation, what I've been through, it's like the norm," Rose said of sitting out occasionally. "My body's got to get used to moving the way I want it."

This will be Rose's eighth missed game of the season and his fourth because of the right hamstring. He's amid his best statistical month since March 2012, averaging 21.9 points and 6.0 assists in February.
