Divvy Offers Half Price 24-Hour Passes Monday

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Divvy will sell half price 24-hour passes to those who want to travel throughout the city by bike on Monday.

As a way to celebrate "bonus" day for leap year, riders can purchase a 24-hour pass, which usually costs $9.95, for $5 available at all 475 stations, according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation.

The pass offers unlimited 30 minute trips within a 24-hour period, and riders have to pay extra for trips that last longer than half an hour, according to the statement.

One rider who uses the ride-share system Monday has a chance to win a free Divvy annual membership, which allows for unlimited short trips, according to the statement.

Divvy, which features 4,760 bikes across 86.7 square miles, has seen a 30 percent increase in the number of trips last year, with nearly 3.2 million trips in 2015 compared to 2.4 million trips in 2014, according to the statement.
