77-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Edison Park

(STMW) -- A 77-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon in the Edison Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

A 2013 Toyota was northbound in the 6600 block of North Harlem shortly after 3 p.m. when William Berberich ran into the street heading east, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Berberich, who lived in the 6800 block of North Overhill, was struck by the Toyota and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 3:38 p.m., authorities said.

The 54-year-old woman driving the Toyota remained at the scene after the crash, police said. No citations were issued.
