Remaining Loose Bison Euthanized In Southeast Wisconsin

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — A herd of buffalo is no longer roaming in southeastern Wisconsin.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department says the farmer who owned the herd decided to euthanize the remaining bison that were still wandering after escaping from their enclosure Saturday.

Authorities say the farmer wanted to make sure no one was hurt by the wild animals. The roaming buffalo were spotted by some county highways.

Ten bison had to be euthanized. Seven bison were safely corralled and are back at the farm in the Town of Paris.

Sheriff Dave Beth agreed with the owner's decision, saying the bison "are wild animals and could have severely injured or killed anyone who happened to cross their path."

No one was hurt.
