Police: 'Executioner' Of Tyshawn Lee Has Been Identified

(CBS) -- Cook County prosecutors on Monday announced murder charges in the Nov. 2 shooting death of Tyshawn Lee as Chicago police said the trigger man in the execution of the nine-year-old has been identified.

Dwright Boone-Doty was charged with the murder of Tyshawn Lee, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office said, and he faces additional charges in connection with two other cases, prosecutors said.

The murder of Tyshawn Lee was shocking even by Chicago standards. The fourth-grader had been lured into an alley at 80th and Damen and executed, authorities say, because of his father's gang ties.

Tyshawn was shot multiple times at close range with a .40-caliber weapon, near his grandmother's house.

Police have said more than one person was involved in the killing. Suspect Corey Morgan, 27, last year was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Tyshawn's death, but police said they were looking at two other suspects.

Authorities did not say at the time who they believe fired the shots that killed Tyshawn.

At the time of the boy's death, then-Police Supt. Garry McCarthy called the killing the most "abhorrent, unfathomable cowardly crime" in his 35 years of police work.

A police spokesperson on Monday tweeted that the department had identified the "executioner" of the boy. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart and State's Attorney Anita Alvarez were expected to attend a news conference Tuesday with Chicago police officials.
