Sherrick McManis Re-Signs With Bears

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) Sherrick McManis, a key special teams player for the Bears, will return to Chicago on a two-year deal.

A six-year NFL veteran, McManis has been in Chicago since 2012. He has 55 special teams tackles in 55 games, leading the Bears during that span. He had a team-high 17 special teams tackles in 2015.

McManis had interest from the Patriots and Jaguars but opted to return to the Bears. A former standout at Northwestern, McManis also plays a role at nickelback.

The Bears have also re-signed cornerback Tracy Porter, running back Jacquizz Rodgers and tackle Nick Becton since free agency officially began Wednesday afternoon. The team introduced newcomers Danny Trevathan and Bobby Massie on Thursday at Halas Hall.
