Two Injured In 'Bear Spray' Incident At South Side School
(STMW) -- Two students were injured Thursday afternoon when someone used bear spray inside a classroom at a Bronzeville neighborhood high school on the South Side.
Paramedics responded about 3:40 p.m. to Wendell Phillips Academy High School at 244 E. Pershing Rd., according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva.
Two students were taken in fair-to-serious condition to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center after being hit with the bear spray, Roccasalva said.
Bear spray is a form of pepper spray, often with stronger deterrent levels, used to ward off aggressive bears in the wilderness.
Additional details were not immediately available.
