Glenbard South Special Olympics Team Headed To State Basketball Tournament

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Glenbard South Raiders received a rousing send-off Friday morning as the Special Olympics basketball team headed to the state tournament in Bloomington.

Parents, teachers, staff, and students packed the fieldhouse at Glenbard South High School, cheering on the players before the three-day tournament downstate.

"I think this gives them an opportunity to work together, to do something that they don't normally get a chance to do," coach John Keith said.

Clark Stalker's son, Cameron, is on the team.

"It means everything to all of us, especially Cameron. His dream was always to go downstate," he said.

Adrian Todorov also plays for the Raiders.

"Like Michael Jordan said, I failed over and over again, and that's why I've succeeded," he said.

A big kid, Adrian said his role is to stand under the basket, and wait for the ball.

The tournament includes several individual and team skill competitions Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Horton Fieldhouse at Illinois State University, and at the Shirk Center at Illinois Wesleyan University.
