Exit Polls Show Half Of Republicans Voting In Illinois Primary Think Trump Not Honest

(CBS) -- Donald Trump topped the Republican ticket in Tuesday's primary in Illinois.

So what do Republicans think of the GOP frontrunner? CBS 2's Jim Williams studied CBS 2's exit poll data.

Donald Trump won every age group and Ted Cruz was second across all age lines.

When we asked this question "do you think Donald Trump is honest and trustworthy?" to Republican voters, 46 percent said yes and 50 percent said no he is not honest and not trustworthy.

Still, when asked which Republican candidate would make the best commander and chief, Trump led the pack with 38 percent, Cruz 28 percent, Kasich 23 percent. Only 9 percent said Rubio, who dropped out of the race Tuesday night.

We did find one group that favored Cruz and Kasich. Both had 32 percent support among those with post graduate study. Trump was at 22 percent.

Looking at various family income levels, Trump won every group.
