Small Group Of Activists Celebrate Ouster Of Anita Alvarez Outside Cook County Criminal Court
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A small band of activists who worked to defeat the re-election bid of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez celebrated Wednesday on the steps to the Criminal Courts complex, at 2600 S. California Ave.
The 15 activists took pains to say they were only celebrating the defeat of Alvarez, and are not fans of Kim Foxx, who defeated Alvarez to become the Democratic nominee. In fact, they wish politics, politicians and prisons would all vanish and do not believe in endorsements or working for political candidates.

Activist artist Monica Trinidad said it was plain to her and to those who worked with her that Alvarez did not believe that black lives matter.
Their message to Foxx was not congratulatory. Instead, they said they would be watching her, if she is elected in November.
The activists said they intend to offer comfort next week to the family of Rekia Boyd, who was shot to death March 21, 2012, by off-duty Chicago Police Det. Dante Servin, who fired wildly over his shoulder. In one of his last acts before being forced to resign, former Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said he would move to fire Servin. The matter is before the Chicago Police Board.
