21 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

(STMW) -- Twenty-one people have been wounded, three of them critically, in shootings across the city so far this weekend.

Most recently, a 20-year-old man was shot Sunday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

He was inside a vehicle about 5:40 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Monroe when someone opened fire, according to Chicago Police. He suffered a gunshot wound to his face and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said the victim was not cooperating with investigators, but the shooting was possibly gang-related.

Earlier in the morning, two people were shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

A 29-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were sitting on a front porch about 1:20 a.m. in the 800 block of North Central Park when a male driving a dark-colored car drove by and fired shots, police said.

The man was shot in both legs and the woman was shot in the left thigh, police said. They were both taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.

A 17-year-old boy was shot 20 minutes earlier in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side. He was walking on the sidewalk at 1:05 a.m. in the 4000 block of West 26th Street when he heard shots and realized that he had been hit in the left thigh, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A man was shot and critically wounded while he was working late Saturday at an Irving Park neighborhood bar on the Northwest Side.

A 51-year-old man was working about 11:40 p.m. at Brudders Bar at 3600 North Pulaski when someone fired shots from the street into the window, police said. He was shot in the head and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. Witnesses said the man as a bouncer at the bar.

Just ten minutes earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

He was walking on the sidewalk about 11:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of West 73rd when someone came up to him and shot him in the back, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

Two men were shot Saturday evening near the Pulaski Blue Line station in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The men, ages 29 and 33, were walking in the 300 block of South Pulaski Road at 6:23 p.m. when someone walked up behind them and fired shots, hitting the younger man in the leg and grazing the older man's leg. The 29-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, and the older man refused medical attention, police said.

Blue Line trains temporarily bypassed the Pulaski station because of police activity, but service was restored within 20 minutes, according to a CTA alert.

Two other men were shot about an hour earlier in the South Side South Shore neighborhood.

The men, ages 27 and 30, were walking in the 7800 block of South Cornell Avenue at 5:28 p.m. when the suspect walked up and fired shots, striking the younger man in the ankle and the older man in the left leg, police said.

The younger man was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, and the older man was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

At least 11 more people have been shot across the city in other attacks since 5 p.m. Friday.

Additionally, a 56-year-old man was found stabbed to death inside an Irving Park neighborhood store late Friday afternoon. Police initially thought he had been shot.
