Aurora Police: Woman Grabbed Child During Abduction Attempt

(STMW) – A woman tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl who was waiting for a ride to school Monday morning in west suburban Aurora, but ran off when the child started screaming.

The girl told police she was outside her apartment building waiting for her ride to school about 8:10 a.m. in the 1200 block of Marshall Boulevard, according to Aurora police.

That's when a woman approached her, grabbed her and threatened her, she told police. When the girl started screaming, the suspect took off running eastbound toward Farnsworth Avenue. The girl was not hurt, according to police.

Police will be increasing patrols in the area for the immediate future, according to the statement.
