Memphis QB Paxton Lynch Scheduled To Visit, Work Out For Bears

By Dan Durkin--

(CBS) Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch has a visit and workout scheduled with the Bears on April 19, a source said.

Lynch opted to forgo his senior season and enters the draft as a redshirt junior. He was a three-year starter for the Tigers and progressed in every major passing category over the past three seasons. He finished with 8,865 passing yards, 59 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and completed 63 percent of his passes.

He's widely considered the third-best quarterback prospect in the 2016 class, behind Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. The Bears hold the No. 11 overall pick.

At 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds, Lynch has ideal height to survey the field and fluid footwork to match. He'll need to adjust to pro style reads and operating from under center at the next level, but his combination of athleticism, height and elite arm strength lifts his ceiling as a prospect.

Lynch is getting a lot of attention around the league. There were 26 teams represented at his pro day this past Wednesday. He also has double-digit predraft workouts completed and/or set up, including to San Diego, Dallas and Philadelphia -- all of whom have selections in the top eight of the first round.

The NFL Draft will be held from April 28-30 in Chicago.
