6 Displaced In Aurora House Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six residents were displaced after a house fire in west suburban Aurora Sunday.

A bystander noticed smoke coming from the roof of a two-story house in the 100 block of North Fourth Street around 1 p.m., according to a statement from the Aurora Fire Department. No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

The house had six separate, single room residences, and was deemed uninhabitable. The residents were provided temporary housing through the building's owner and some are staying with family, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage to the home's structure was estimated at $160,000, and damage to the home's contents was estimated at $60,000, fire officials said.
