Plainfield ATV Crash Claims Life Of 9-Year-Old Girl
(CBS) -- A 9-year-old girl was killed and a man was wounded in an ATV crash in southwest suburban Plainfield Tuesday night, police said.
The crash happened near 135th Street and Ridge Road about 6:55 p.m., police said.
Police found Alexis Richardson not breathing. A man, who has not been identified, was also severely injured, but was conscious, police said.
The girl was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she died, police said.
The man was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, but his condition was not disclosed, police said.
Investigators believe the ATV was traveling south on the asphalt path along Ridge Road, then onto grass when it entered a culvert and crashed.
