3 Killed, 20 Wounded In Chicago Weekend Shootings

(STMW) --Three people were killed and at least 20 others have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.

The most recent homicide happened early Sunday in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 3200 block of West Douglas Boulevard about 12:25 a.m. found 24-year-old Darrell Wilson unresponsive in a parked vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Wilson had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:48 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 100 block of South Central Avenue.

About 9 p.m. Saturday night, a woman was killed and two men were injured in a shooting in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Tiara M. Parks, 23, and the men were getting out of a car in the 11400 block of South Stewart when they heard gunfire and realized they'd been hit, authorities said.

They drove to Roseland Community Hospital, where Parks was pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. She lived in the 9200 block of South Bishop.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the lower back and a 27-year-old man in the left leg. Both of their conditions were stabilized, police said.

Earlier Saturday, a 22-year-old man was killed in a separate North Lawndale neighborhood shooting.

Gino Carrasco was walking out of a store in the 3200 block of West 16th Street at 1:14 a.m. when someone got out of a vehicle and fired shots, authorities said.

Carrasco was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5100 block of South Sawyer.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened about 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the Sauganash neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the right arm in the 6000 block of North Pulaski, police said. He took himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. A police source said the man is a documented gang member.

Less than two hours earlier, a 36-year-old man was gravely wounded in an Auburn Gresham neighborhood shooting on the South Side. He was on a sidewalk in the 8700 block of South Honore about 1:50 a.m., when a yellow Infiniti pulled up and someone inside opened fire, hitting the man multiple times, police said. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "grave" condition.

At 1:07 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the East Garfield Park neighborhood's 3200 block of West Maypole, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was treated and released.

About midnight, a 33-year-old man was wounded in a separate East Garfield Park neighborhood shooting. He was standing outside in the 600 block of North Christiana when someone walked up and fired shots, striking him in the right leg, police said. He took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

At least 14 other people have been wounded in shootings since 6:30 p.m. Friday.
