Supt. Johnson Says Video Showing Takedown Of Suspect A Sign More Training Needed
CHICAGO (CBS) -- For the first time, Superintendent Eddie Johnson has weighed in the investigation into two police officers who were shown on camera throwing a woman to the ground and tasing her.
The video is from May of 2011. Tiffani Jacobs, who was a suspect in an armed robbery, stepped out of her car and the officers appear to grab her by her hair and throw her down before tasing her.
Superintendent Johnson says he doesn't think this is a case of misconduct, but rather poor training.
"The tactics used were a little concerning so you know in those situations it's a challenge for us to get those officers more training, more coaching, more mentoring and put them back on the right track," he said.
Johnson says he stands by the arrest made that night. The two officers are on desk duty on while the investigation is underway.
