Bears Looking To Improve Soldier Field With Revenue From Increase In Stadium Advertising

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Bears are planning some unspecified improvements at Soldier Field, funded by an increase in advertising inside the stadium, WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports.

Amid all the give-and-take over the site for the proposed George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the Chicago Bears negotiated a deal that chairman George McCaskey calls a tasteful increase in signs at Soldier Field. More advertising means more revenue.

"All of those dollars are committed to going back into the building to enhance the fans' game day experience," he said.

McCaskey tells reporters the team and the Chicago Park District have hired a firm to study what kind of improvements could be made. Are there priorities?

"I don't think we've got that far," he said. "Got the new video boards last year and those have been very popular and I think have really enhanced the game day experience, so that's the kind of thing we're looking for."

When asked about bunker suites, field level boxes that put fans close to the game, McCaskey said, "That's a possibility."

McCaskey spoke at Grant Park as NFL Draft Town activities were getting underway.
