Craig Sager Once Talked Dennis Rodman Out Of Suicide

(CBS) Inspirational, beloved and eccentric TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager graces the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, pulling back the curtain on his courageous fight with leukemia.

You should read the full story here. In it, writer Lee Jenkins relays an incredible nugget.

Back in 1993, Pistons forward Dennis Rodman's whereabouts were unknown by his team, and he planned to commit suicide, Jenkins reports, until Sager tracked him down at a Detroit strip club.

"The Landing Strip," Sager told Sports Illustrated. "He had the gun. He was going to do it. I told him how stupid that would be."

Sager's intervention helped Rodman get through a tough time. Rodman would go on to play for the Bulls for three seasons, helping them to a championship each year.
