Animal Shelter Gets Rest Of Litter, Following Discovery Of Abandoned Puppy In Pillow Case

UPDATE: Woman Charged With Hoax After Lying About Finding Abandoned Puppy In Duct-Taped Pillowcase

Puppies Galore At Woodstock Shelter

(CBS) -- We told you earlier this week about a mixed-breed puppy that was abandoned -- in a pillow case, by the side of the road in Woodstock.

Now we have an update: The puppy was only three-and-a-half weeks old when he was abandoned along Highway 14, sealed in a pillow case with duct tape.

Lis Schurman of Hoof Woof and Meow Animal Rescue in Gilberts says the puppy - called Woodstock - is doing well. Authorities who looked into the case located the rest of the litter, which is now at the animal shelter.

"They are, surprisingly, in pretty good condition, but there are 10 of them total. So, we have a lot of puppies that are four-and-a-half weeks old that are on our care right now," Schurman says.

She says the four females and six males will be available for adoption by the end of May.

Schurman says after authorities found the rest of the litter, the owners relinquished the puppies and told authorities when they were born -- March 27 -- and said the litter's mother is a beagle-Boston terrier mix and the father is a beagle-boxer mix.

A fundraising page has been set up to help care for the puppies.
