Bears Release Safety Antrel Rolle

(CBS) The Chicago Bears have released veteran safety Antrel Rolle, the team announced Sunday.

Rolle, 33, started seven games with the Bears last season after signing as a free agent. He also missed nine games because of injury. Rolle previously played five seasons with the New York Giants and five with the Arizona Cardinals.

The release of Rolle comes after the Bears took two safeties in the NFL Draft over the weekend, picking Deon Bush of Miami in the fourth round and DeAndre Houston-Carson of William & Mary in the sixth round. Letting Rolle go will also save the Bears about $3 million on the salary cap, 670 The Score's Dan Durkin reported.

The Bears also released offensive lineman Matt Slauson on Sunday.
