Watch: Jon Lester Threw His Glove To 1st Base For An Out Again

(CBS) Everyone around these parts knows Cubs left-hander Jon Lester isn't fond of throwing the baseball to bases, be it after fielding a grounder or on pick-off throws.

He sure doesn't have any hesitation about throwing his glove around the diamond, though -- literally.

On Wednesday afternoon in the bottom of the second inning against the Pirates, Lester fielded a sharp grounder off the bat of Francisco Cervelli. When the ball wedged awkwardly in his glove, he simply decided to toss all the leather in his hands over to first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the out. Thinking quick on his feet, Rizzo discarded his glove to catch Lester's, with the ball in it.

Lester pulled off the same move once in 2015 as well.
