Audubon International Wants DuPage County Golfers To Find Different Birdies
CHICAGO (CBS) -- When golfers play at two DuPage County Forest Preserve District courses early next week, officials would like them to shoot for an additional kind of "birdie."
This year's Audubon International BioBlitz targets golf courses, and asks golfers to mark down or take pictures of wildlife and plants they see during their rounds.
"We're going to be sending golfers that want to participate out with a wildlife scorecard," said Ed Stevenson, director of golf for the DuPage County Forest Preserves.
The BioBlitz will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Green Meadows and Maple Meadows courses.
"We're likely to see some egrets, some herons, some wrens. Cardinals, I know, have been spotted out on Maple Meadows recently," Stevenson said.

Stevenson said he normally teaches his golf students to focus on the environment around them.
"I think it's healthy to find some good distractions between shots; and soaking in the environment around you, I think, is one of the best ways to do that," he said.
Golfers who take part in the BioBlitz and describe at least five species they see will get discounts for future rounds.
