Increased Security For Jones College Prep After Online Threat

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A high school in the South Loop was on high alert on Monday, after violent threats were made against students on social media.

Extra security and Chicago police officers were being deployed at Jones College Prep High School after an anonymous person posted a picture of a gun on Instagram, and claimed Monday would be "the day of the dead."

The message stated:

"Tomorrow is my rapture. Tomorrow is when the day of the dead occurs. You may think I'm dumb for posting this, go ahead. Hopefully I'll catch you laughing and joking in the hallways so I can quickly end your miserable idiotic life. This is all a game to me. Those who hear me ready to murder and still come are worthless and deserve to die. I like to kill. This is the only reason I'm doing it. I love killing. I already finished my parents, now for the school. I've decided to make sure the school starts with a bang."

Police said the threat is not credible, but security will be increased as a precaution.

School officials urged students to show up for class, but said to arrive early to account for a longer than normal check-in time.
