Don't Admire Home Runs On John Lackey

(CBS) Just one mistake haunted the Cubs in their doubleheader Game 2 loss to the Padres on Wednesday night. It was a hanging breaking ball from right-hander John Lackey that Padres catcher Christian Bethancourt put onto Waveland Avenue.

Bethancourt stopped to admire his home run, which irked the veteran Lackey.

As Bethancourt trotted around the bases, Lackey was seen yelling in Bethancourt's direction, in a line that appeared to be, "You better (expletive) run!"

After the game, Lackey was asked his reaction to Bethancourt. He didn't hold back.

"How many home runs does he have?" Lackey asked to reporters.

Informed Bethancourt has three home runs this season, Lackey replied: "I have a long memory. He'll learn."

The Cubs would go on to lose the game 1-0 to the Padres, their second loss in the doubleheader. Cooler heads would prevail for Lackey, at least for now.
