Warming Trend Continues Through Next Week

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It might have taken a while to get here, but we can finally begin to enjoy a nice long stretch of pleasantly warm weather.

It was already 66 degrees in Chicago at 10 a.m. Friday, on the way to a high of around 68, and temperatures should get warmer each day through the middle of next week.

While Friday's skies were overcast, the rest of the weekend should be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 70s on Saturday, and the mid 70s on Sunday.

That trend continues early next week, as temperatures could flirt with the 80s on Monday and Tuesday, though the middle of the week also brings chances for some thunderstorms.

A few showers could begin late Monday night, and there's a small chance for rain on Tuesday, but the precipitation could ramp up Wednesday, when there is a strong chance for thunderstorms.
