Holly Holm Is Still Open To A Fight With Cris Cyborg

(CBS) While her eye is still on recapturing the bantamweight title and she previously rejected a fight against Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm said she's still open to facing Cyborg in the future at 140 pounds.

Holm declined the fight with Cyborg because she wanted another chance at Meisha Tate, who defeated Holm with a fifth-round submission at UFC 196 in March. She shed more light on the subject in an interview with Laurence Holmes on 670 The Score on Thursday.

"They offered the fight to me, this last fight she had," Holm said of Cyborg. "And at the time I was so focused on wanting to see if I had a chance to get the title shot, and so it just didn't seem like the right time for that. I'm not against a fight with her. At the time, it didn't seem like the right moment because I was so focused on wanting to see if I could get in and get that title defense, a shot at Meisha defending her title. But that didn't happen.

"If there's a time in the future and the time's right, I'm not against fighting her. But at the time, it just didn't seem to make sense."

Holm's main focus is winning the bantamweight title again, which she captured with a victory against Ronda Rousey last November before losing it to Tate.

"If I get a shot at the title again, I would love that, because I'd really like to avenge my loss," Holm said. "That's what's kind of on my heart."

For now, the next business for Holm is fighting Valentina Shevchenko on July 23 in Chicago.
