Statues Of Chicago History Come To Life

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you listen closely, Chicago history is calling.

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole came face to face with statues and works of art coming to life on your smart phone.

Spearheaded by The Driehause Foundation, "Statue Stories Chicago" debuted late last summer.

There are now 30 talking pieces of history, from the Picasso on Daley Plaza to Jean Baptiste du Sable along the Chicago River.

If you listen closely and you'll hear the talented voices of David Schwimmer, Johnny Galecki, Steve Carrell and others bringing the statues to life.

The voice of DuSable is Chicago native and actor Harry Lennix.

"I think that anytime you can instill in people a sense of knowledge and history and pride it's a great thing," Lennix said.
