Police said a 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were in a pickup truck in the 2400 block of South Michigan Avenue around 4 a.m., when two people approached and shot them.

The victims drove themselves to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The man, Sami Talab Salaymeh, of Hanover Park, had been shot in the arm and stomach, and later was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office..
