"North Center Bandit" Robs 5th Bank

CHICAGO (STMW) -- After a period of more than seven months without a robbery, a man authorities have dubbed the "North Center Bandit" held up a Northwest Side bank Wednesday evening for his fifth heist since last summer, according to the FBI.

At 5:56 p.m., he walked into the Chase Bank branch at 5352 N. Laramie Ave., demanded money and made off with an unspecified amount of cash, FBI spokesman Special Agent Garrett Croon said.

Like his other bank robberies, he didn't show a weapon and no one was hurt, Croon said. The FBI has still warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

In October 2015, the FBI announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest, following his fourth successful hold-up. The robberies happened:

• Oct. 20 and Aug. 27 at the Chase Bank branch at 3335 N. Ashland Ave.;
• Sept. 25 at the Chase at 3339 W. Belmont Ave; and
• Aug. 21 at the PNC Bank branch at 4201 N. Lincoln Ave.

The suspect is described as a white man between 25 and 35 years old, standing between 6-feet and 6-feet-2 and weighing 180-210 pounds, authorities said.

Anyone who recognizes the "North Center Bandit" or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or local police.
