Bears' Marquess Wilson Re-Fractures Foot; Surgery Next Week

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Bears receiver Marquess Wilson has suffered another setback.

Entering his fourth NFL season, the 23-year-old Wilson re-fractured his left foot Tuesday at the team's minicamp. He's slated for surgery next week and may miss regular-season games, with a trip to the physically-unable-to-perform list possible. Players who begin the regular season on the PUP list can't practice with the team and aren't eligible to play for the first six weeks.

Wilson dealt with left foot injuries last season as well.

"Obviously disappointed, like anybody that gets injured, that has to require surgery," Bears coach John Fox said. "But he was in a good frame of mind."

During his first three years in the NFL, Wilson has yet to play a full season. He's played in just 28 games, recording 47 catches and two touchdowns. He posted a career-best 28 receptions last season but missed five contests due to injury.

The Bears have added depth at receiver, re-signing Marc Mariani and drafting Daniel Braverman to fill a crowded depth chart that's led by Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White and Eddie Royal, each of whom was injured, too, during parts of the 2015 season.

Minicamp at Halas Hall comes to a conclusion on Thursday, completing the Bears' offseason program. The team reports to training camp in seven weeks.
