Craig Sager Will Join ESPN Broadcast Crew In Game 6, His First NBA Finals Game Ever

(CBS) Beloved TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager will work ESPN's broadcast of Game 6 between the Cavaliers and Warriors on Thursday night, his first NBA Finals broadcast of his famed career.

Sager will do sideline work alongside Doris Burke, while play-by-play man Mike Breen and analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson will be behind the microphone as usual too.

"I'd like to thank Turner and ESPN for approaching me with this tremendous opportunity to be part of The Finals broadcast team," Sager said in a statement. "I've been watching the series very closely and, while I do not want to distract in any way from the event itself, I look forward to being in the building for what will be an incredibly exciting Game 6. The NBA community is a very special one and this is a great honor."

Sager was diagnosed with leukemia in 2014. Now being treated for a recurrence of leukemia, Sager will be presented with Jimmy V Perseverance Award at The ESPYs on July 13.

ABC/ESPN has owned NBA Finals rights for some time, so Sager's basketball season work usually comes to a close after the conference finals are over.
