(STMW) -- A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot while riding in a vehicle Sunday evening in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

About 6:15 p.m., he was riding in a vehicle in the 6100 block of South Kimbark when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The boy was shot in the right shoulder, and the driver took him to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. He was transferred to Comer's Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The mother of the child identified him as Devon Quinn. She said he is expected to be OK.
