8 Wounded In Monday Shootings On South, West Sides

CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides between 4:30 a.m. and midnight Monday.

Most recently, a 21-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks in an Austin neighborhood drive-by shooting on the West Side. She was standing outside at 11:27 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Lexington when a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix drove by and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police. She was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Earlier Monday evening, three men were shot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side. They were standing outside about 8 p.m. in the 8900 block of South Parnell when someone got out of a passing dark-colored van and shot them, police said. One man, 23, was shot in the arm and abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized. The other two, 28 and 29, were each shot in the foot and taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where they were both listed in good condition.

About 7:40 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 7500 block of South Saginaw in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. He took himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

Less than three hours earlier, a 29-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. He was walking in the 11900 block of South Stewart at 4:52 p.m. when a male approached him and shot him in the hand, police said. He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

At 12:19 p.m., a 24-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the Englewood neighborhood's 7000 block of South Halsted when shots rang out, police said. He was shot in the face and taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

Monday morning, a man who was shot on the lakefront in the South Side Oakland neighborhood later walked into Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The 24-year-old man told investigators he was shot between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. in the 4300 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said. He was near the beach when he was approached by three males, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot him. The man showed up at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 6:12 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the left buttocks, police said. He was listed in good condition.
