Cubs Still Dominating All-Star Voting, With 5 In Line To Start

(CBS) The Cubs remain on track to have five position players start for the National League in the All-Star Game.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo, second baseman Ben Zobrist, shortstop Addison Russell, third baseman Kris Bryant and outfielder Dexter Fowler all lead in the voting at their respective positions. Rizzo leads all NL players with more than 2.2 million votes.

Bryant (2.07 million), Fowler (2 million), Zobrist (2.05 million), Russell (1.48 million) all have clear-if-not-big leads at their spots. Fowler is currently on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a right hamstring strain.

The All-Star Game is July 12 in San Diego.

Jason Heyward is also fourth in voting among NL outfielders, despite struggling mightily at the plate this season. Miguel Montero is fourth among catchers.

Fans elect the position-player starters, while managers and players select the rest of the All-Star rosters, save for one final fan vote for the last reserve in each league.

Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta is also a lock to make the All-Star Game, but pitchers aren't voted on by fans.
